SCHIBBOLETH
The international platform for reflection and debate brings together intellectuals, researchers, and creators to discuss a wide range of contemporary issues, from psychoanalysis to philosophy. This platform fosters cross-disciplinary exchanges to analyze and understand current civilizational challenges.
Aims, Method, and Steps
For over 10 years, Schibboleth – Actualité de Freud, an international and inter-university association, has brought together a diverse and wide-ranging audience with intellectuals, practitioners, academics, researchers, authors, and creators. These participants, coming from a variety of disciplines such as psychoanalysis, psychopathology, law, history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, image and discourse analysis, political, economic, social, and human sciences, as well as bioethics, geopolitics, cultural studies, religious studies, literature, cinema, and visual arts, meet through seminars, conferences, publications, and open colloquiums to reflect on our times and explore how to act within them.
Over the years, particularly between France and Israel, a unique cultural and scientific community has emerged, along with a distinctive style, space, and rhythm for reflection and debate.
This endeavor is rooted in several fundamental genealogies of thought, notably Freud's work and Jewish thought, from which it draws a method, an ethic of truth and responsibility, and a demand for intellectual elevation. It seeks to construct a clinic of the contemporary—capable of exploring and studying the state of the world, reading and analyzing current events, identifying human and societal problems, and examining civilization’s essential issues.
The goal is to foster exchanges between people and knowledge, to transmit and build an ethic for the present and future. This contributes to a cultural endeavor aimed at achieving progress in the life of the mind and defending against human destructiveness and its anthropological regressions.
