Delegation of French LGBT+ Representatives to Israel

The Foundation organized a trip to Israel bringing together six representatives of the French LGBT+ community.

 

The purpose of this visit was to enable participants to discover the diversity of Israeli society and to deepen their understanding of issues related to the rights, representation, and everyday lives of LGBT+ individuals in Israel.

 

Through meetings with a wide range of personalities in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem, the trip fostered open and constructive exchanges between the French and Israeli LGBT+ communities (see the detailed program below).

Program of the visit

June 8, 2026

  • Visit to the Nova Festival memorial site.

  • “Break the Ice” dinner attended by photographer Michael Liani.

 

June 9, 2026

  • Meeting with the French Ambassador to Israel, Frédéric Journès, Ambassador since August 2023.

  • Reception at the Knesset hosted by Yorai Lahav Hertzano, Yesh Atid Member of Knesset and LGBT activist.

  • Guided tour of Jerusalem.

 

June 10, 2026

  • Meeting with Chen Arieli, Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv and LGBT activist.

  • Visit to the Tel Aviv LGBT Center, the largest LGBT center in Israel.

  • Meeting with the Director of the Ruby Magen Center.

  • Discussion with Lilly Zoartz, transgender mentor (Lola Project).

  • Visit to a clinic specializing in healthcare for the LGBT community, in the presence of its founder, Dr. Roy Zucker.

  • Visit to photographer Michael Liani’s studio and presentation of his LGBTQ+ Love project.

  • Wigstock Israel (Drag Party): One of the most important and influential cultural events within the local LGBT+ community. Since its creation in 1995, the festival has served not only as a stage for spectacular drag performances but also as a key platform for raising awareness of social and public health issues, particularly HIV prevention.

 

June 11, 2026

  • Meeting with members of the Beit El-Meem Association in Haifa. Beit El-Meem is a welcoming space for all gender identities and sexual orientations within Arab society.

  • Meeting with Talleen Abu Hanna, Miss Trans Israel 2016 and star of The Belle from Gaza (Cannes Film Festival 2024).

  • Meeting with a police officer responsible for the security of the Haifa community and the northern region of Israel.

  • Global Media Reception at the Hilton Bay, Tel Aviv: A special media reception organized alongside the Pride gathering at sunset on Hilton Beach, attended by representatives of the Tel Aviv–Yafo Municipality, Tel Aviv Global, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, and other guests.

  • Women’s Rave, Park Meir: A major nighttime event dedicated to women from the LGBTQ+ community, featuring DJs, live performances, and festivities throughout the evening. Alongside other municipal events, Tel Aviv’s LGBTQ+ nightlife plays a central role during Pride Week. The city’s leading brands, queer parties, clubs, outdoor venues, and cultural institutions all host large-scale events, contributing to the unique atmosphere of Tel Aviv Pride.
