Latet (“to give” in Hebrew) was founded in 1996 with the mission of reducing poverty in Israel and building a more just society. Its activities include providing assistance to the most vulnerable families, mobilizing Israeli society around mutual responsibility and solidarity, and raising public awareness among decision-makers about the challenges of poverty.
Our Core Mission
Today, Latet is Israel’s leading anti-poverty NGO. We operate the country’s first national food bank and serve as an umbrella organization for 210 partner NGOs located in 125 communities nationwide. Every month, we support more than 100,000 families in need, as well as 1,600 Holocaust survivors living in poverty.

Our Daily Actions
Our Food Security Program
We operate Israel’s first national food bank, providing monthly assistance through both non-perishable food products and fresh food supplies. Our food bank works in close cooperation with 90% of Israel’s food industry. Thanks to these strategic partnerships, we collect and redistribute food that would otherwise go to waste — 80% of the aid distributed comes from our food rescue program.
Aid for Life — Supporting Holocaust Survivors Living in Poverty
Since 2007, we have developed a holistic support program dedicated to Holocaust survivors. Every month, we provide practical assistance including two food packages, home care services, housing renovations, and essential emotional support. Regular visits from Latet volunteers, as well as events organized during Jewish holidays such as Rosh Hashanah and Passover, reflect our commitment to ensuring Holocaust survivors can live their later years with dignity, care, and respect.
Noar Latet — Our Youth Movement Focused on Solidarity and Social Entrepreneurship
Noar Latet empowers young Israelis from all backgrounds through social engagement, volunteering, and social entrepreneurship. Its mission is to cultivate the next generation of leaders guided by values of generosity, solidarity, and mutual responsibility.
Advocacy and Public Awareness on Poverty Issues
Latet leads public awareness campaigns and has published an annual Alternative Poverty Report for the past 22 years. We actively participate in public debate, support legislative initiatives, and mobilize public opinion to ensure that social issues remain a national priority.
