Free Cardiac Care for Palestinian Children,

Israeli and Palestinian medical teams collaborate to provide free cardiac treatment for Palestinian children, while also training healthcare professionals in pediatric cardiology. These initiatives aim to reduce the incidence of severe congenital heart defects in a region with a high prevalence.

Building Bridges Between Israeli and Palestinian Peoples

Since 2005, Un Cœur pour la Paix has been offering life-saving heart surgeries free of charge to Palestinian children suffering from severe, often fatal, congenital heart defects. These procedures are carried out by Israeli and Palestinian medical teams working hand in hand at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. The program also includes the training of Palestinian healthcare professionals.

Training Healthcare Providers – 2019 Focus

In 2019, Un Cœur pour la Paix shifted its focus toward training Palestinian caregivers committed to working in the West Bank, with the goal of developing expertise in pediatric cardiology and genetic counseling.

Regional Challenges

In the Middle East, the incidence of congenital heart disease remains particularly high—largely due to a high rate of consanguineous marriages, estimated at around 45%.
